Manchester City ready to snatch Manchester United target

Pep Guardiola (Manchester City boss), Ruben Amorim (Manchester United boss)

Manchester City started their season poorly. However, somehow they are crawling back in the Premier League table.

Injuries to key players like Rodri don’t help City’s cause. That is why Pep Guardiola will be looking to sign a midfielder in January.

Now, Pep already has many midfielders in his Manchester City squad. The likes of Tijjani Reijnders, Mateo Kovacic, Bernardo Silva, and Kalvin Phillips make City’s midfield one of the strongest.

But Pep is still struggling to find a player who can fill the void that Rodri’s absence creates. However, one of last year’s defeats might have shown Pep the player he should bring to Manchester City.

Manchester City ready to snatch Manchester United target

Now, Manchester City have set their sights on a player who is already a target for Manchester United. Yes, Ruben Amorim is desperate to sign a midfielder.

The Portuguese boss is already seeing his revolution at Old Trafford taking shape. But the one area where his team is struggling is the midfield.

The Red Devils are struggling to control games in the midfield. That is why Amorim is playing long balls and trying to win the second balls to attack the opposition directly.

But this is not how Ruben Amorim’s team generally plays. His system thrives when his team builds from the back. And the midfield plays a key role in that.

That is why Ruben Amorim has identified a midfielder how can help him create the structure he wants in the midfield and help him take control of games.

Transfer news: Elliot Anderson to Manchester City

According to The Mirror, Manchester City have set their sights on Elliot Anderson. Ruben Amorim is also eyeing a move for the Nottingham Forest midfielder.

Pep Guardiola played against Anderson last season and was impressed with the former Newcastle United midfielder. He even went on to say:

“Elliot Anderson is physical, and a top player as well.”

So, there is no doubt that Guardiola admires Anderson. And, as per the same source, they are ready to pay ÂŁ75 million for the England international.

Apparently, Forest were looking for a fee of around ÂŁ70 million. This has been the price they have quoted Manchester United, according to various reports.

Also, Elliot Anderson admires Rodri and thinks the Spaniard is one of the best midfielders in the world. So, if Anderson gets a chance to play alongside Rodri, then he would grab it with both hands.

Role of Newcastle United in Elliot Anderson transfer saga

Apparently, Newcastle United are looking to bring their academy product, Elliot Anderson, back. When Anderson was at St. James’ Park, he was mostly out of the starting XI.

Eddie Howe always preferred a midfield of Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton, and Sandro Tonali. That is why he sold Anderson for pure profit. Also, Newcastle had to sell Elliot Anderson due to PSR.

Now, Eddie Howe also wants to bring him back to Tyneside. However, the fee Forest are charging right now will make things extremely difficult for Newcastle as they have other priorities.

Therefore, Elliot Anderson’s future may lie in one of the Manchester clubs and not in Tyneside.

Football Buzzer’s take on Elliot Anderson to Man City transfer news

First of all, we need to take into consideration Manchester City’s situation with Rodri. The Spaniard is yet to renew his contract. And until he does, City will get linked to multiple midfielders.

Also, there is an angle on Manchester United. The Red Devils truly need a midfielder. But do they need the profile of Elliot Anderson? This can be a big doubt.

Ruben Amorim wants a defensive midfielder. There is a significant drop in quality when Casemiro is not on the pitch. Also, Manuel Ugarte has failed to live up to his hype.

That is why Manchester United might look for someone like Morten Hjulmand and not Elliot Anderson. And, Newcastle United will not go after Anderson in January.

So, Football Buzzer’s verdict on this transfer story is that Elliot Anderson is likely to stay at Nottingham Forest this season, and in the summer, he will likely receive more offers.

Also, the way Nottingham Forest are playing, they could get relegated. In that case, his price would drop, and that could facilitate Newcastle’s move for their academy graduate.
