Liverpool’s summer rebuild has already seen movement both in and out of Anfield—but this latest twist has caught many by surprise.

With Arne Slot now officially in the manager’s seat, the club has been planning a careful transition.

While some veterans have departed, Liverpool are determined not to lose the core of their attacking unit, especially as they look to challenge Manchester City and Arsenal and retain the title next season.

Despite speculation surrounding various players, few expected any serious moves to come from Germany, at least not for one of Liverpool’s most dynamic wide forwards.

That, however, changed this week.

FC Bayern Munich, currently undergoing their own rebuild under new leadership, are aggressively scouting attacking options to replace departing stars and rejuvenate their frontline.

A surprising call came from Bayern director Max Eberl, who made contact with Liverpool over a deal that could shake up the Reds’ front line.

The Bundesliga giants made a direct approach for one of Liverpool’s key players, hoping to test the waters amid uncertainty around his long-term future.

Reports indicated that the player has yet to agree on a contract extension at Anfield—further fuelling Bayern’s belief that a deal could be done.

However, Liverpool’s response was firm—and immediate.

The Merseyside club rejected Bayern Munich’s approach for Colombian winger Luis Diaz and made it clear that they have no intention of selling the player this summer.

Liverpool transfer news: Bayern Munich’s offer for Luiz Diaz rejected

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have informed Bayern that they are not open to negotiations, and that Díaz remains central to their plans for the 2024–25 campaign.

The 27-year-old has become a fan favourite at Anfield since joining from Porto in 2022, and while talks over a new contract have stalled in recent months, Liverpool remain determined to keep him.

His explosive pace, flair, and ability to turn games on their head make him a unique asset in the squad—and one the club isn’t willing to lose.

Although Diaz is yet to sign a new deal, the Reds believe they are in a strong position to retain him, with three years still left on his current contract.

Bayern’s interest isn’t expected to go away quietly, but unless Díaz himself pushes for a move—which he hasn’t indicated—Liverpool’s stance is unlikely to change. For now, it’s advantage Anfield.
