What happened to the Marc Guehi to Liverpool deal?
Last summer, Liverpool were firm favourites to sign Marc Guehi. They even came close to signing the Crystal Palace captain on deadline day.
There are reports that Guehi even signed his Liverpool deal. However, Crystal Palace backed away at the final moments of the deadline day.
The main reason for Palace backing away was their manager, Oliver Glasner. After giving Palace their first-ever trophy in the club’s history, the Austrian is in a strong position at the club.
That is why the manager pressed the Palace board to back off. He even threatened to quit his job in case Guehi leaves.
Glasner was not happy when Palace sold Eberechi Eze to Arsenal this summer. So, he wanted to make sure that Guehi stays.
